Pitchess Detention Center Inmate Search, Visiting, Bail & Family Information

Pitchess Detention Center is a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s custody complex, not one single housing building. Search the LASD inmate system first to confirm the inmate’s booking number, exact facility, bail, court date and release status.

Pitchess Detention Center: Start Here

Pitchess Detention Center sits in Castaic and forms part of LASD’s large North County custody campus. North, South and East have separate facility addresses and operating procedures.

Inmate Information 213-473-6100

LASD’s current phone directory lists this for inmate information.

PDC Facility Information 661-295-8840

LA County lists this for Pitchess North/South facility information.

Visitation Appointment Required

LASD currently states that public visits have no walk-in option.

Money Deposits Access Corrections

LASD began accepting online Access Corrections deposits in July 2025.

The most useful first result is the housing location. Do not travel to Pitchess until the LASD inmate record confirms which facility currently holds the person.

Pitchess Detention Center Is a Multi-Facility Complex

“Pitchess Detention Center” can mean several separate custody units along The Old Road in Castaic. North County Correctional Facility is also on the same larger custody campus but is separately named.

PDC North Facility 29320 The Old Road

Castaic, CA 91384

PDC South Facility 29330 The Old Road

Castaic, CA 91384

PDC East Facility 29310 The Old Road

Castaic, CA 91384

Nearby but separately named North County Correctional Facility

29340 The Old Road, Castaic, CA 91384.

Why the exact facility matters: visiting availability, housing, operational procedures and direct mail handling can differ between North, South, East and NCCF.

What Information Can LASD Give You About an Inmate?

LASD’s current Custody Division Manual identifies the following information as publicly releasable. This makes the inmate record useful for much more than confirming a person’s name.

Information available through LASD inmate information
Field What it helps you do
Booking details Confirm the custody event and obtain the booking number.
Arrest information Understand the agency and arrest connected with the booking.
Bail amount See whether a financial release condition is listed.
Housing location Identify the exact jail or Pitchess facility.
Court date and location Find the next scheduled criminal proceeding.
Release date Check whether a release date has been recorded.
Hold information Identify another reason release may not occur after bail.
Visiting information Determine applicable visiting days and hours.

Can’t Find the Person at Pitchess?

Do not limit the search to Pitchess. Newly booked people often enter the Los Angeles County system through another custody location and may later be transferred to Castaic.

Check spelling Search all LASD custody Call inmate information Check court date Recheck after transfer

If the arrest just happened

The person may still be at the Inmate Reception Center or another booking location rather than Pitchess.

If the inmate disappeared from Pitchess

Housing changes can reflect court movement, transfer to another LASD jail, release, state prison or another agency hold.

LASD inmate information: 213-473-6100.

You Found the Inmate. What Should You Do Next?

Save the booking number and housing location before doing anything else. Those two details prevent many mistakes with visits, mail, money and court searches.

1 · Identity Save booking number

Use it when dealing with LASD custody services.

2 · Housing Confirm North, South or East

Do not assume “Pitchess” is enough.

3 · Release Review bail and holds

A hold may prevent release even when bail is listed.

4 · Court Record court date/location

LASD inmate information can provide both.

5 · Visit Schedule through IVVS

Public walk-in visits are not currently accepted.

6 · Support Use Access Corrections

LASD’s official electronic deposit vendor.

Bail, Holds and Release From LASD Custody

The inmate-information record can show a bail amount, but bail is only one part of release. Court orders, additional cases or holds may keep someone in custody.

Bail Listed Confirm the amount

Use current LASD inmate information before arranging payment.

Hold Listed Ask what agency/court controls it

A hold can delay release after another bond condition is satisfied.

No Bail Information Check the court process

The case may still be awaiting a judicial decision or have a nonstandard release status.

Before paying anyone

  • Confirm the booking number
  • Confirm current custody
  • Review every listed charge
  • Check for additional holds
  • Verify the court case
  • Keep all bond/payment documents
Never rely on an unsolicited caller for release instructions. Verify bail through LASD and the applicable court before sending money.

How to Find the Los Angeles County Criminal Court Case

LASD inmate information can provide the next court date and courthouse. For deeper case information, use the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.

Start with the inmate record

Write down the court date and location shown by LASD.

Use the LA Superior Court system

The court launched a new unified Court Access Portal pilot on July 31, 2026.

Search the case information available to you

The portal centralizes available criminal case information, future hearings and filing history.

Follow the latest court order

Court information may change after the jail’s original booking entry was created.

New in 2026: the Superior Court’s Court Access Portal consolidates criminal and several other case-information systems into one responsive portal.

Pitchess Detention Center Visiting

LASD uses the Inmate Visitation Scheduling System. Appointments can currently be made up to seven days ahead, and walk-in public visits are not accepted.

Scheduling Up to 7 Days Ahead

Book through the LASD visitation system.

Walk-Ins Not Allowed

Public visits must be scheduled.

Arrival at Pitchess 60 Minutes Early

LASD currently directs Pitchess visitors to arrive one hour before the appointment.

Schedule first, then travel. The IVVS system displays facility availability and is more reliable than memorizing an old visiting timetable.
Schedule LASD Visitation

PDC North Visiting Rules

LASD’s current North Facility unit order provides additional detail for scheduled weekend and major-holiday visitation.

North Visiting Days Saturday & Sunday

The unit order lists 8:00 AM–2:00 PM.

Visit Length 30 Minutes

One visit per inmate per visiting day under the published North order.

Visitor Limit 3 Total

Only one visitor at a time is allowed at the visiting window.

  • Minors under 16 require parent/legal guardian supervision
  • Appropriate shoes and clothing are required
  • No contraband in secure areas
  • Visitors must follow marked access areas
  • Public appointment still must be scheduled
  • Current IVVS availability controls your actual booking
Do not use North Facility hours for every Pitchess inmate. South and East have their own procedures. Schedule according to the actual housing location shown in the inmate record.

PDC South Has Both Face-to-Face and Video Visiting Procedures

LASD’s South Facility manual describes pre-registered face-to-face visiting on weekends and selected holidays, plus scheduled video-conference visits subject to equipment and facility availability.

Face-to-Face

Visitors pre-register through LASD, then complete screening and transportation procedures at the Pitchess visiting center.

Video Conference

South Facility’s current manual describes 30-minute scheduled video visits using shared Pitchess visitation equipment.

  • Maximum three visitors total
  • Children count toward the limit except specified infants
  • Juveniles generally need parent/legal guardian arrangements
  • No food or drink in the visiting center
  • No smoking
  • Children must remain supervised

Before Registering as a Visitor

LASD’s current visitor-registration system asks visitors to certify several eligibility and safety conditions. A restriction can require additional approval or prevent the visit.

Examples checked during registration include: prior incarceration, probation status, a pending case/bond status, protective orders, outstanding warrants, victim status and security concerns.

Do not assume an old approval carries forward. Complete the current IVVS questions truthfully and follow any instructions displayed by LASD.

How to Send Money to a Pitchess Inmate

LASD began accepting online inmate deposits through Access Corrections on July 28, 2025. The service also supports app and telephone deposits.

Online Access Corrections

Use the inmate’s correct booking/account information.

Phone 866-345-1884

Access Corrections lists bilingual live-agent support.

In Person LASD Deposit / Pickup

A government-issued photo ID is required for applicable in-person services.

Residential address required: LASD’s Access Corrections instructions state that a valid residential address must be used; P.O. Box addresses are not accepted for the depositor.

How Inmate Mail Works at Pitchess

Pitchess North and South both process incoming and outgoing inmate correspondence under LASD custody rules. Mail is inspected for contraband, while qualifying confidential/legal correspondence receives separate handling.

Ordinary Mail

Include the inmate’s full booked name and booking number. Confirm the current facility and address before mailing because housing can change.

Legal Mail

Legal and confidential correspondence is processed under separate LASD procedures and should be clearly identifiable as qualifying privileged mail.

LASD North Facility policy: there is no numerical limit on how much mail an inmate may send or receive, subject to custody rules and property/storage limitations.

The North Facility manual says routine mail can be searched for contraband and is not ordinarily read unless a valid security reason exists and facility authorization is obtained.

Do not guess the housing address. Run the inmate search immediately before mailing. A person transferred from North to South, NCCF or another LASD facility may need different routing.

Do Not Mix Up Personal Mail and Money Deposits

LASD’s current system makes Access Corrections the simplest electronic deposit route. Negotiable instruments found in Pitchess mail are routed through custody-account procedures rather than treated as ordinary correspondence.

Safer workflow: send the letter as correspondence and use the official Access Corrections system for money. This reduces address and processing mistakes.

Phone Calls and Communication

Inmates use LASD’s contracted communication system to place calls. Current vendor arrangements can change, so use LASD’s inmate services or visitation system for the active account provider.

Can you call an inmate directly?

No normal public phone number connects directly to an inmate housing area. Inmates place authorized outgoing calls.

Need current account instructions?

Use LASD’s custody-service information or call inmate information before funding an old vendor account.

Routine jail communications are not the place for confidential legal strategy. Attorneys should use approved confidential communication channels.

Legal Materials, Reading and Inmate Services

LASD’s 2026 North Facility manual says PDC North does not maintain a traditional inmate law library, but inmates can request basic legal materials through Inmate Services.

Legal Materials

North Facility Inmate Services assists inmates with access to basic legal reference material without unnecessary transfer.

General Reading

North Facility maintains books and periodicals in module multipurpose-room collections and distributes newspapers.

Released, Transferred or No Longer at Pitchess?

Los Angeles County inmates can move between facilities for classification, court, medical care, programming or release. A missing Pitchess housing assignment does not automatically mean release.

Search LASD again

The inmate may now be housed at NCCF, Men’s Central Jail, Twin Towers or another county facility.

Check release information

LASD identifies release date as publicly available inmate information.

Review the court case

A court order may explain release, sentencing or another custody change.

Check California state custody

After transfer to state prison, use the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation locator rather than LASD.

2026 Pitchess Custody Operations Update

LASD is expanding body-worn camera deployment throughout custody operations. As of June 2026, deployment had exceeded 50% across Custody Operations, while Pitchess North, South and East were still awaiting completion of required infrastructure.

Why include this? It provides current facility context without pretending an operational modernization project changes an inmate’s bail, visit or court rights.

Pitchess Detention Center Location

The Pitchess facilities are clustered along The Old Road in Castaic. This map uses the North Facility at 29320 The Old Road as the reference point for the complex.

Do not navigate only from the word “Pitchess.” Confirm North, South, East or NCCF in the inmate record before leaving home.
